What is Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) – How Does Solana Saga Phone Works? – Captain Altcoin

What you'll learn 👉
At least to me, unexpectedly, Solana, a publicly-traded blockchain firm, has revealed a release of a new smartphone. According to marketing materials, the Solana Saga is a top-tier Android smartphone that will provide a distinctive set of features linked with the Solana blockchain. As you can probably anticipate, with everything Solana produces, the Saga smartphone will be able to manage digital assets in addition to carrying out transactions quickly and securely.
Solana introduced the Saga and the Solana Mobile Stack, an Android framework that enables programmers to design mobile experiences for wallets and apps. The Saga hardware is created and constructed by OSOM, despite the fact that the underlying experience may come from Solana. If that company’s name seems familiar to you, it’s most likely because it was founded by former Essential employees. Even though the company hinted about a new smartphone in 2021, the smartphone will not be officially released until the first quarter of 2023. The final price of the smartphone is expected to be around $1,000.
Please see below some of the main characteristics of Solana’s upcoming smartphone:
Usersprivate keys will be kept by Saga in the same component that holds biometric information like fingerprints. Federal claims that Solana won’t have access to the data. Moreover, a few said that Saga would not be secure as a hardware wallet, but it will definitely be more secure than a software wallet. Some of the phone’s manufacturers will be able to integrate Solana’s code, which is open-source.
I did some investigation when it comes to the numbers and statistics of smartphones and digital assets; almost 7 billion people use smartphones in the world, and over 100 million people hold digital or crypto assets. Estimation is that these numbers will only continue to grow in the upcoming years, so Solana’s team saw a golden opportunity to launch its own web3-based smartphone
In June 2022, one of the co-founders of the Solana network, Anatoly Yakovenko, announced that Solana is releasing a web3 software platform and also informed the crypto world that they are working on a smartphone.
The name of the software platform is Solana Mobile Stack (SMS). It is a toolkit for creating Android games, wallpapers, and applications. The stack will make it easier for developers to make decentralized applications (DApps) while still guaranteeing an excellent user experience.
“Developers have been blocked for too long from creating truly decentralized mobile apps because the existing gatekeeper model just doesn’t work anymore.” Yatolenko said when he was talking about the new Solana Mobile Stack
The crypto world, especially the one heavily involved in the Solana network, will be highly excited about the Solana Mobile Stack. SMS should be considered a big bet or, in other words, a risky project by the Solana network, but Solana is known for taking risks in the past, isn’t it?
Yet another exciting piece of information is that Solana is funding $10 million financing dApp development on the Solana Mobile Stack.
At this point, it is good to note that this article should not be considered financial advice. You should make your own decisions about where to invest your savings.

The Solana dApp store is a version of an app store like you use on your smartphones (Play store on Android or Apple store on iOS devices). In fact, it is a decentralized version of an app store where you will be able to buy various dApps that operate on the Solana blockchain
To be honest, I could not find any information about what dApps precisely will be available on Saga’s dApp store, but I assume most (if not all) dApps operating on the Solana blockchain will be available for download here. The most notable ones are Solend, Solanart, Saber, MeanFi, Raydium, Magic Eden, and Orca
Solana is one of the most reliable dApp platforms, which has a massive ecosystem with thousands of users and hundreds of applications available for all crypto enthusiasts.
Solana Mobile Stack comes with a few fascinating features that will be interesting to exceptionally professional traders or, in other words, traders who have been in the crypto world for a long time and the ones who already operate on the Solana network
Please see below some of the main features of Solana’s SMS:
Keep in mind that Solana Pay will not interfere with or disturb the popular Google Pay that operates in the web 2.0 ecosystem. Both of these payment systems will be available on the Saga smartphone
Users of the Solana SMS can also use digital assets to buy products and services, play Web 3 games, and mint NFTs. Additionally, the Seed Vault will safeguard user privacy and permit online trading through various decentralized platforms.
Pre-orders for the phone will cost buyers roughly $1,000, and a $100 non-refundable deposit is required. Those who place a pre-order for the phone will also be eligible to receive a special NFT called the Saga Pass that will mark the phone’s debut. To test the design and identify any flaws before its release to the general public and the crypto world, The Solana Saga will initially only be available to developers.
You can place a deposit and try to preorder the device here.
